3 mins read

While both TransUnion CIBIL and lenders take various measures to ensure data accuracy in the credit reports, some errors may crop up.

Inaccurate information in the credit report adversely affects your credit score and your chances of getting future loans. Therefore, you must take steps to correct these errors by raising a CIBIL dispute. Read the following sections to know the types of disputes, how you can raise a dispute with TransUnion CIBIL either online or offline, and the process of dispute resolution

Types of CIBIL Disputes

Individual Disputes

Errors in an individual’s CIBIL Credit Information Report (CIR) typically involve personal details and issues related to duplicate accounts. Personal details errors include incorrect address or filing of the name. Sometimes, a single loan account can reflect in the CIR twice, thus reducing the individual’s overall credit score. Such types of disputes in the CIBIL report can be resolved by filling the CIBIL dispute form.

Company Disputes

Discrepancies in a Company Credit Report are considered as Company Dispute. Usually, such disputes involve the existence of duplicate accounts, incorrect ownership details, data inaccuracies, etc. The authorised signatory of the company can fill the CIBIL dispute form and initiate the dispute resolution process.

Note: Some of the information that cannot be corrected through dispute resolution are member name, account number, control number, and enquiry date.
