COVID-19 Related Funds – Extending a Helping Hand to Those in Greater Need

Corona-virus has taken a toll on human life, caused emergency lockdowns, forced countries to shut their borders and brought the world economy to its knees. We could keep going on about the impact of corona-virus on people and the world, but if you’ve been following the news, you’ll know what exactly we are talking about.

The tragedy has also unfolded in India. With massive job losses, the effect of corona-virus lockdown has been catastrophic, especially among the daily wage workers. This group of our population is in need of basic things like food and emergency financial assistance.

At MoneyTap, we’re doing our part to help the government and our citizens in need by donating to the following funds. We urge you to stand with us, to stand with the country and donate to these funds as well.

1. PM – Cares Fund

This public charitable trust is set up under the name of ‘Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund’ (PM – CARES Fund).

PM – Cares Fund’s primary objective is to deal with emergencies or distress situations of any kind, like the COVID-19 pandemic. It aims to provide relief to the affected across all geographies.

Donors are eligible for 100% 80G benefits.

Know more about this fund here.

You can either make the donations directly from your Google Pay app or make a UPI transaction on the VPA: pmcares@sbi

2. Give India

Give India responds to the needs of the underprivileged and the disadvantaged communities at this unprecedented time.

Give India is raising funds for two COVID-19 programmes:

  1. Donating food parcels for daily wage earners
  2. Providing hygiene kits for those in high-risk areas.

Donors are eligible for 50% 80G benefits.

3. Goonj

This non-profit organization supports a large number of daily wagers, who are out of jobs or are likely to be unemployed.

This nationwide Fund helps the COVID-19 affected with food packets, educational support, and medical support. This organization also provides support to people in rural geographies.

It has already started work in 12 states, including Delhi, Bihar, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.

Donors are eligible for 80G benefits for 50% of their donation amount.

Here’s where you can donate to this Fund – Rahat Covid-19 Fund by Goonj

You can also donate to the MoneyTap Covid-19 campaign on Give India which supports Goonj.

As the threat of this disease grows, there is something we can all do to help – donate to the Fund of your choice, or donate to multiple funds if you wish. Every little bit builds up. Think of those in need and do your part for the country.

Take action today – donate what you can.

We hope that you are safe in the confines of your home, successfully working remotely, washing your hands as often as possible, avoiding contact with people who demonstrate symptoms, and taking all the other recommended precautions for COVID-19.

And remember, that just like us, our home-helpers and community workers also need to stay home to be safe and healthy. This is the time to show compassion and make sure that you do not cut their salaries for these missed days as they rely on this money to support and take care of their families. Help them in any way you can.
