– Apple

This statement by Apple captures all that is exceptional about the iPhone X. Here is a deep dive into some of the key innovations that make this model so irresistible.

1) Display

Edge-to-edge has redefined the cutting-edge Apple design standards. The 5.8-inch Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLED) Super Retina display with an all glass design is sure to get eyeballs pop out. The glass design comes with the superb IP67 certification which is an indication of excellent waterproofing capabilities. “All Screen” and “device is the display” is how Apple is marketing this sleek model. The screen in itself has a 1,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio, a 1125 x 2436 pixels resolution, and True-tone display allowing the user to enjoy accurate and stunning colours and high brightness

2) TrueDepth Camera

A Dual 12 megapixel, f/1.8 & f/2.4 primary or rear camera works wonders for those who are shutter-happy. The large aperture size gives a nice creamy background bokeh, and the face-detection autofocus and touch-focus makes clicking portraits and people-pics a pleasure. The camera comes with a 2x optical zoom, allowing long distance photography to some extent. Special photography features like support for Portrait Mode and Portrait Lighting (beta) are a sweet deal.  Other camera features that make this phone backup as a camera are geo-tagging, simultaneous 4K video, 8MP image recording and HDR in both photo and panorama modes. What’s more, it can shoot great videos. The secondary camera i.e. the front camera is of 7 megapixel at f 2.2 and has face detection, HDR and panorama settings.

3) Sound

The jack is absent in this iPhone and there is the feature of Active noise cancellation with dedicated mic. The loudspeaker comes with stereo speakers.

4) Connectivity

The iPhone X specifications are all for staying connected. Dual band WLAN Wi-Fi allows support for LTE speeds up to 450Mbps. Other features like the Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and a 2.0 USB port with a proprietary reversible connector make it easy to plug into for various connectivity purposes. The flipside is that there is no inbuilt radio. A great communication and connectivity feature is the polished version of Siri natural language commands and dictation, which allow the user to talk to the phone and throw commands at it. Perfect way to get your phone to run errands for you! The iPhone X also hosts the iCloud cloud service, allowing anytime, anywhere access. Some of the sensors that make life easier through motion and voice controls are the Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, Gyroscope and Barometer. There is no temperature sensor or Compass/ Magnetometer.

5) Battery Life

The non-removable Li-Ion 2716 mAh battery gives up to 21 hours of talk time when connected on 3G. The phone can play music up to 60 hours. The device comes with Qi wireless charging and fast charging support i.e. it charges 50% in 30 minutes.

6) Hardware

The hardware is robust; the iPhone X uses the Apple A11 Bionic make hexa-core processor. Internal storage is decent at 64 GB and RAM is at 3GB. However, the storage is not expandable. Externally, the device dimensions are – 143.6×70.9×7.7 mm and it weighs a cool 179 grams.

7) Software

The phone runs on the epic iOS 11.0.2 and the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) is the Apple three-core graphics GPU.

These iPhone X key features make it stand out in the smartphone market. The iPhone X is pegged at an expected price of a whopping Rs. 89,000 in India. This may be the only deterrent that will prevent every Tom, Dick and Harry from being a proud possessor of the iPhone X. Or maybe not, after all the aspirational element that Apple’s latest product may be way to alluring than even the hefty price tag.
